The northern side of the lake is called “North Lake (“Hokko” Japanese)” and the southern side “South Lake(“Nanko” Japanese),” based on the Lake Biwa Bridge located in the center of Lake Biwa.
My main activity is in the North Lake area on the north side.
I’ll explain spring (March to April) fishing in Lake Biwa today.
Attraction of Lake Biwa in spring (March to April)
You can target pre-spawn bass until April, and catching over a ten-pound fish is not a dream!
The number of bites is few, but when they do occur, they are always large, a characteristic of spring.

And what’s more, in April, you can see the cherry blossoms on the lakeshore from the top of the lake!
It’s super beautiful!
I think that you absolutley look at it!

There are some ways to fish.
I’ll explain them now.
1、Glide Bait
The most active season of the year for glide baits.
Various Uses.
Glide, Jerking, Straight retrieve etc,
Sometimes we witness the moment of a bite.
It’s so exciting!
I love it.

2、Swim Jig
I often use “Smelt Head” (Nishine Lure Works in Canada) and “Volup Swimmer” (Bottomup in Japan).
In winter I often use small size, but in spring, I usually use big size or regular size swim bait.
In dirty water and stain water, I use swim jig.
Use this for timing when they respond with food.
Conversely, if you see menace or aggression, use more glide baits.

There are other rigs to use, but these are the two main ones.
