Lake Biwa is the most famous bass fishing field in Japan, where a world record largemouth bass was caught in 2009.
Bass Fishing Japan
Bass Fishing Lake Biwa JapanLake Biwa is Japan's most famous bass fishing lake, home to the world-record largemouth bass.
The northern side of the lake is called “North Lake (“Hokko” Japanese)” and the southern side “South Lake(“Nanko” Japanese),” based on the Lake Biwa Bridge located in the center of Lake Biwa.
My main activity is in the North Lake area on the north side.
I’ll explain winter fishing in Lake Biwa today.
Attraction of Lake Biwa in winter
I think, you can get a huge bass in winter at Lake Biwa. Because in winter, Lake Biwa remains at a higher water temperature, the small fish no longer react, and only big fish can be selected to be caught.
There are three main ways to fish. I’ll explain them now.
1、Small Swim Jig
I usually use swim jig in winter for targeting huge bass. I often use “Smelt Head” (Nishine Lure Works in Canada) and “Volup Swimmer” (Bottomup in Japan).
Almost all big bass caught in winter are this.
2、Alabama Rig (A-rig)
Use an Alabama rig when the water quality is a little muddy or fish is feeding. Alabama rigs are used year round, but a straight retrieve is very effective, especially in winter season.
3、High Specific Gravity Worm
Various worms, represented by Cover Scat 3.5″ (Deps). I usually use jerking with no-sinker rig.
