Who is Japan Bass Fishing Agent?

Japan Bass Fishing Agent was created to make Japanese bass fishing more accessible to international anglers from foreign countries.
Many visitors come to Japan hoping to fish legendary waters such as Lake Biwa, but arranging a fishing trip in a foreign country can be difficult without local knowledge.
Transportation, boat access, fishing gear, local rules, weather decisions, and language barriers can make the process confusing.
Japan Bass Fishing Agent provides private guided fishing trips designed specifically for international guests. We support guests before and during the trip with clear communication, trip planning, online payment, pickup information when available, and English support.
Our goal is to make the entire experience easier, safer, and more enjoyable — from the first inquiry to the end of the fishing day.
Our Mission & Passion
Our mission is to share the beauty of Japan’s fishing fields and lakes with anglers from around the world.
Japan has some of the most exciting and unique bass fishing destinations, from the legendary waters of Lake Biwa to the iconic scenery of Lake Kawaguchi with Mt. Fuji in the background, the clear mountain lakes of Lake Ikehara and Lake Nanairo.
We want our guests to experience these places not only as fishing spots, but as part of a deeper travel experience in Japan.
Fishing while traveling is one of the best ways to connect with a local place.
It allows you to see landscapes, water, seasons, techniques, and fishing culture that most visitors never experience.
Through Japan Bass Fishing Agent, we want international guests to feel the excitement of fishing Japanese waters, discover the beauty of each field and lakes, and experience the passion of local Japanese anglers and guides.
For us, this service is not only about catching fish.
It is about creating a meaningful day on the water, sharing Japan’s fishing culture, and helping guests enjoy their trip to Japan more deeply.

Atsuya Asano | Founder / CEO

Japan Bass Fishing Agent was founded by Atsuya Asano, an angler and guide based in Lake Biwa, Japan with a passion for sharing Japanese bass fishing with guests from around the world.
I’ve been working as a fishing guide on Lake Biwa in Japan for over 7 years.
Japan has a deep and highly developed bass fishing culture that differs from that of United States, but much of it is difficult to access for foreign visitors because of language, transportation, local rules, boat access, and local field knowledge.
Japan Bass Fishing Agent was created to bridge that gap that Asano thought.
Our goal is to help guests enjoy Japanese bass fishing with less stress and more confidence — while introducing them to the local techniques, tackle, fields, and fishing culture that make fishing in Japan so special.
Our Guides and Lakes Expertise
Each fishing field in Japan has its own character, rules, seasonal patterns, and local fishing style.
Lake Biwa is known for its scale and trophy bass potential. Lake Kawaguchi offers beautiful scenery and a unique fishing style near Mt. Fuji. Lake Ikehara and Lake Nanairo are clear mountain reservoirs known for their natural beauty and technical fishing.
Because every field is different, local knowledge matters.
Japan Bass Fishing Agent provides guided fishing trips with experienced guides who understand the seasonal patterns, local rules, boat operation, safety conditions, and fishing styles of each field.
For international guests, our service also includes the communication and trip support needed to make the experience easier and more comfortable.
Our goal is to provide not only a day of fishing, but a well-supported experience that helps guests enjoy Japan’s fishing culture with confidence.

Lakes We Offer
Lake Biwa | Shiga Prefecture
Lake Biwa is Japan’s largest lake and one of the most famous bass fishing destinations in the world. It is known for its size, open water, changing seasonal patterns, and the possibility of catching trophy-class largemouth bass.
The lake also became world-famous in 2009, when a world-record largemouth bass weighing 22 lb 4 oz was caught here.
Our Lake Biwa trips are especially popular with guests staying in Kyoto, Osaka, or nearby areas.

Lake Kawaguchi | Yamanashi Prefecture
Lake Kawaguchi is located near Mt. Fuji and offers one of the most scenic bass fishing experiences in Japan. It is a great option for travelers who want to combine fishing with iconic Japanese scenery.
The lake has its own local rules and fishing style, making it a unique destination even for experienced anglers.

Lake Ikehara | Nara Prefecture
Lake Ikehara is a clear mountain reservoir known for its beautiful scenery, deep water, and trophy bass potential. Because of its remote location, it is best suited for guests who want a more dedicated fishing trip.

Lake Nanairo | Nara Prefecture
Lake Nanairo is another beautiful mountain field with clear water, natural surroundings, and technical bass fishing. It offers a quieter and more local fishing experience away from major tourist areas.

Safety, Insurance & Weather Policy
Safety is always our first priority.
Fishing trips take place on natural waters, and conditions can change depending on wind, rain, waves, temperature, and seasonal weather patterns.
We check weather and lake conditions carefully before each trip. If the conditions are not safe, we may recommend changing the schedule, adjusting the plan, or canceling the trip based on safety considerations.
Life jackets are provided and must be worn while on the boat.
Our trips include insurance coverage, and we operate with safety-first decision making based on weather, lake conditions, and the experience level of each guest.
Light rain is usually not a problem for fishing, but strong wind, storms, lightning, or unsafe wave conditions may affect the trip. We will communicate with guests in advance whenever weather may impact the schedule.
Booking and Payment
Our booking process is simple.
- Send us your preferred date, number of guests, and the field you would like to fish.
- We check trip availability and recommend the best option.
- Once the schedule is confirmed, we send you payment information.
- After payment is completed, your booking is confirmed.
- Before the trip, we provide final details such as meeting time, pickup information, what to bring, and weather updates if needed.
Online credit card payment is available.
Prices are clearly shown on each trip page.
Most of our trips are private charter experiences, which means the price is for the private boat or guide service, not a mixed group tour with other guests.
Guest Experience
Many of our guests visit Japan for business trips, family vacations, honeymoons, or personal travel.
For some guests, fishing is the main purpose of their trip. For others, it is a special one-day experience during a larger Japan itinerary.
We welcome both serious anglers and first-time visitors.
Experienced anglers can enjoy learning about Japanese techniques, local tackle, seasonal patterns, and field-specific fishing styles.
We think that fishing in Japan is not only about catching bass. It’s also about experiencing local nature, meeting passionate anglers, visiting tackle shops, learning new techniques, and discovering a side of Japan that most travelers never see.
A Message to Our Guests
If you are visiting Japan and want to fish here, we would be happy to help.
Japan has a unique bass fishing culture, wonderful lakes, passionate local anglers, and techniques that are different from many other countries.
Whether you are chasing a trophy bass on Lake Biwa, enjoying Mt. Fuji views at Lake Kawaguchi, or exploring a quiet mountain reservoir, we want you to experience Japan more deeply through fishing.
Our hope is that your day on the water becomes one of the most memorable parts of your trip to Japan.
