1. Who We Are
Japan Bass Fishing Agent is a fishing guide service operated by Hook Co., Ltd., a company registered in Japan (“we”, “our”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
If you have any question about this policy or about your personal information, contact us at contact@japanbassfishingagent.com.
2. Information We Collect
When you send a booking inquiry through this website, we collect your name, e-mail address, phone number, the number of anglers, your preferred dates, the name and address of your accommodation (used to arrange pickup), any optional add-ons you select, and anything you choose to write in the message field.
When you pay for a trip, payment is processed by Square. We receive confirmation that payment was completed, but we never receive or store your full card number.
When you browse this website, we collect standard usage information through cookies and similar technologies: the pages you view, the site you came from, your device and browser type, and an approximate location based on your IP address.
3. Why We Use It, and Our Legal Basis
- To reply to your inquiry, check availability, and arrange your guided trip — necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and to perform that contract.
- To arrange pickup, boats, and where applicable accommodation with our partners — necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To issue receipts and keep accounting records — necessary to comply with Japanese tax and accounting law.
- To measure and improve this website and our advertising — our legitimate interest in running and improving our business, and, where required, your consent to cookies.
- To send you occasional seasonal updates and offers — only where you have opted in. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for any purpose unrelated to those listed above.
4. Who We Share It With
We share only what is necessary, and only with:
- our guides and boat operators, so that they can prepare for your trip;
- accommodation, transport, and local partners, where your booking includes pickup or a stay;
- Square, our payment provider;
- our website hosting and e-mail providers;
- Google and Meta, for website analytics and advertising measurement.
We also disclose information where we are required to do so by law, or where disclosure is necessary to prevent fraud or other unlawful activity.
5. Where Your Information Is Held
We are based in Japan, and your information is stored in Japan and on the systems of the providers listed above. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, please note that Japan has been recognised by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of data protection, so no additional safeguards are required for transfers to us.
6. How Long We Keep It
- Inquiries that do not result in a booking: 24 months from your last contact with us.
- Booking, payment, and accounting records: 7 years, as required by Japanese law.
- Marketing contact details: until you withdraw your consent.
We delete or anonymise your information once these periods end.
7. Your Rights
You may ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to transfer it to another provider. You may also withdraw your consent to marketing at any time.
Write to contact@japanbassfishingagent.com. We will confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within one month.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Cookies and Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site, and Google Ads to measure the performance of our advertising. These services set cookies. The traffic data they collect does not identify you by name.
You can refuse cookies through your browser settings. Blocking them will not prevent you from sending an inquiry or making a booking. For more information on how Google handles this data, see Google’s explanation of its data privacy and security.
9. Security
We keep your information accurate and up to date, limit access to it, and take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it against unauthorised access, loss, damage, alteration, and disclosure.
10. Children
Our services are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information through this website. Younger anglers are very welcome on our trips, but the booking must be made by a parent or guardian.
11. Changes to This Policy
We review this policy from time to time and comply with the Japanese laws and regulations that apply to personal information. The current version is always available on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
