Hello. I am Asano, bass fishing guide on Lake Biwa. My nickname is “tsuntsun”. @tsuntsun526
Saikoro Dice rubber fishing has become a hot topic all over Japan, and I use it in my guiding.
I have actually had some of my guests catch a lot of fish with it.
In this article, I will explain the rigging and use of Saikoro Dice Rubber, which I practice in my guiding.
Manufacturers selling Saikoro Dice Rubber
Two types of Saikoro Dice Rubber exist, the original and the one released by OSP.
The original was released several years ago by a manufacturer called “Fieldside,” which used its own molds to release the OSP version, which was then marketed more broadly.
There are also five different sizes of Saikoro Dice Rubber available from Fieldside.
(8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm)
The dice rubber used by Taku Ito in the bass master elite Smith Lake tournament was a 14mm dice rubber made by Fieldside.

OSP’s Saikoro Dice Rubber is common in Japan
I use the non-salt type of Saikoro Dice Rubber from OSP, which are available in the US.
The OSP version of Saikoro Dice Rubber comes in two types, “Non-Salt” and“Max-Salt,” and I mainly use the Non-Salt on a drop-shot rig.
I prefer to use the non-salt type because the fall speed of the max-salt type is a little fast and difficult to handle when using a drop-shot rig, and the non-salt type is easier to make the lure move in a fluffy or sudden manner.
How to use Saikoro Dice Rubber
I think the key to this lure is to give the worm a slow and steady movement to make the bass react to it.
So how do we move it?
Basically, 2 sharp jerks and stay it for 3 seconds. Repeat.
Since it is a drop-shot with a sinker, it is best to target it carefully at spots where it is caught in the undulations of the lake bottom.
Imagine a shrimp moving quickly in front of the fish’s eyes.
The bite will appear when you leave the fish alone after jerking. The bite will often be a clear bite or just a heavy bite.
How to rigging
Basically, use a sinker weight of 1/8 oz to 1/4 oz regardless of depth.
Experiment with different fall speeds and action speeds depending on the situation.
The length of the leader should be 20 cm to 50 cm.
The longer the leader, the more slowly you can lure the lure with a slow fall in a no-sinker state after shuffling it.
On the other hand, there are many disadvantages, such as difficulty in casting, so try to use a length that is well-balanced.
I use Ryugi’s Fog Shot #2 hooks.
I like using this hook because the tip of the needle does not dull easily and it sticks easily and is easy to handle.
Stick type sinkers are recommended to prevent getting stuck.
I use it on the upper side of the trapezoid, hanging it on one of the four corners.
The dice rubber is not easily broken, and when the rubber is broken, you can use it for a long time by hanging it on one of the four corners.
